My Knight and Shining Armor

(WARNING: this one could get sappy!)

In the 8th grade I was a Nolan Middle School cheerleader in Killeen, TX. (don't laugh!) That year close to Christmas we got to go to San Antonio, Texas for a Cheer competition. My Mom and I and Ms. Maria and Katherine Collins (neighbor family - Kat and I cheered together) made the trip together. There are a lot of funny things I remember about that weekend but the big one is My Knight and Shining Armor that I got. You all know I think I am a princess so when we found him at the Mercado I had to have it! My mom told me then it was probably the only boyfriend my dad would ever let me have. (ha ha not far from the truth.) Through high school and college my Knight followed me wherever we lived in the country. He normally had a place of importance like just inside the door of my bedroom. Everyone who came over knew I was waiting on my Knight and Shining Armor.
This is him!
What I didn't know the Lord had planned was that my Knight wouldn't come decked out in a chainmail on a horse (that might have been a little strange anways) but he did come in a nice Chevy truck wearing cowboy boots with a cute black lab puppy to boot. :)
This is the first picture that I have of us together (Spring 2006)! ha ha
I am so thankful that the Lord knew exactly what I needed and who would help me glorify Him to the best of my ability! He is my best friend/husband/partner in crime/teacher/favorite all wrapped up in one!
What a blessing to be married to such a wonderful man!
We have a thing for our boots ...
:)
This is us this past summer in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord alongside my husband no matter where the Lord leads us.

My knight in shining armor (the one from 8th grade) still sits in our den right beside the entertainment center. He just keeps following me. (ha ha) I guess we will keep it. He can continue to follow us around and if the Lord sees fit to bless us with a little girl one day I know he will take up duty in her room the same way he did mine for all these years.

Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow!

  2. Super fun story TL! I saw a knight down the street at Roland's Thrift Store in Downtown Opelika the other week and got a kick out of it. I actually almost bought it too, but it wasn't nearly as nice looking as yours! :o) Awesome story about him possibly taking up future residence in a daughter's room and standing guard. I like that. :o)
